Marx Imports:
Your source for the finest premium & specialty meats from all over the world.

In 1895, the Marx family immigrated to the U.S. from Baden Baden, Germany. We must have raised cattle in the old country, because we naturally gravitated toward the meat business here, initially as cattle dealers and butchers, first in Brooklyn, later in New Jersey.

A century later, the family transitioned into meat distribution and importing. Today, Frank Marx, and his sons, Justin, Keith and Garrett, who represent the fifth generation to work in the business, lead a team of meat industry professionals experienced in every facet of the business. Our mission is to seek out the finest meat and seafood programs in the world and make them available to U.S. food service businesses. Consistency is our north star when it comes to fabrication, availability and pricing. To achieve that requires a family focus on all aspects of the business.

Marx Imports chooses meats for their exceptional eating quality. We are known for developing and discovering unique products and programs that other distributors don’t carry. Our goal is to offer the best, so local is just one factor we consider. What you’ll find in the Marx portfolio are the purest, highest quality proteins from meat producers all over the world who also demonstrate environmental responsibility and humane animal husbandry, regardless of origin.

We view our role as a facilitator, communicating customers’ needs to our meat vendors and working with them to deliver the specs customers want. We offer innovative cuts like Thor’s Hammer and frenched lollipop quail legs, along with rare finds like whole suckling pig from Spain. Many of our subprimals are expertly butchered to achieve 100% yields.

We still get our boots wet in the pastures and we understand butchery and fabrication because we’ve spent a lot of time working in and visiting slaughterhouses throughout the world. We also invite chefs into our test kitchen to work with our products so we can accurately calculate yields and food costs. The goal is to optimize butchery and gauge product performance under real-world conditions. We listen to our customers, and we can effectively communicate their needs to our vendors to constantly improve our product offerings.

The Marx family maintains the highest standards in the foodservice distribution industry, and our pricing is very competitive. Since we work directly with the farmers and customers, there are no middlemen, and no extra markups. We offer marketing support and staff training as well to support our distributors throughout the US.

Think of us as a resource and a partner, not just a meat supplier. Our family has been at this for more than a century. It’s impossible to be perfect, but we are always working towards that goal, by putting the needs of our customers first.
